Colours as Seen in the World — Yellow

I started this series as a way to share some expected and unexpected ways you may find colours in the world. From nature to man-made, colours are all around us, even where you least expect them. The first ‘Colours as Seen in the World’ entry was turquoise, my favourite colour. When I sat down for this next entry, the colour flooding my mind was yellow.

In colour psychology, yellow is often seen as a positive colour – it represents things such as sunflowers, sunrises and even smiley faces. In design, yellow is used to draw attention and inspire emotion.

If yellow is your favourite colour, you are likely optimistic and make friends easily. People with ‘yellow’ personalities are also often analytical thinkers and analyse everything, all the time. Overall, you are a positive and warm person and others perceive you as such.

While I think it’s interesting to look into the meaning of colours and how this reflects on you, I’d always take this information with a pinch of salt. You may like yellow because you feel unhappy and it makes you smile. You may like yellow because you associate it with a childhood memory. You may just like it for no reason.

Whatever it may be, here are some photos of how I perceive yellow in the world around me. Look around, where do you see yellow?

What do you think of when you think of the colour yellow?

Which colour should I do next?

  1. Whoa! This blog looks exactly like my old one! It’s on a completely different subject but it has pretty much the same layout and design. Excellent choice of colors!|
